Congratulations to Andy Exall for retaining his Players Championship title after a hard fought final round of 35 against Ruth Bullin (36), Bill Bullin (39) and Matt Wood (39). Andy picked up £77.50 and also won £107.50 for the charity of his choice - Riders For Health (www.riders.org)

The second round matchplay ties were decided as follows:

Peter Emmerson lost to Ruth Bullin 2 & 1
Matt Wood beat Steve Gow 3 & 1
Chris Harding lost to Bill Bullin by 1 shot
John McIver lost to Andy Exall 3 & 2

In the International Competition Torgny Kjellstrom took the honours (and £30) in the final round having played a superb 32 to beat Leif Ohrling who shot a 37.

Congratulations to Torgny Kjellström for wiinning the 2009 British Open and taking home the top prize of £500. 2nd place and £200 went to Johan Ahlander who beat Björn Dinau in a play off (who received £100). Carl-Johan Spetz completed the Swedish dominance of the event by taking 4th place and £50 in a play off with Tim Davies. Congratulations to Tim for being the top UK player and picking up £100. Special mentions to Nick Chitty for taking the aces prize (£25) and setting a new BMGA course record of 30 in the process (equalling the all time course record) and to Toby Fitzherbert for winning the novice prize (£50) for an excellent performance in his first competition.

Thanks of course to Marion and Emily for running such a superb competition and to all the team at Strokes for their hospitality once again.
