The British Open weekend gets underway tomorrow with the Players Championships from 2pm.

Congrats to Adam for retaining his title and to Vojtěch Mikšovský for winning the International title.



Adam chose MIND UK as the charity for 2016 with £75 raised today.

Having had a chat with Rainer today we thought it was a great idea to add a little extra spice to the proceedings over the weekend by having a Team event running thru rounds 1-9 (inc) of the Open.

The Internationals are having a mixed team but the rest of us stick to our Club members only, Teams of 4, all 4 scores count, each player sticks £1 in the team pot and the winning foursome take the lot - to do with as they feel fit!!

I think it's a cracking idea and am sure the KMGC will have a couple of Teams to compete. What do you say? We can confirm the teams in the morning - be great to have the KMGC, CEMGC, PHCGC, MMGC and the WASPS along with the German OldStars in the mix (see, they've already named their team!!)

British Open Day 1 round up:



Kent team mates Sean Homer and Adam Kelly lead the field after day one at 39 under par, 6 shots clear of the chasing pack with both players setting the new UK course record and equalling the all time course record with rounds of 24 in round 4.

Daniel Vlček from the Czech Republic heads the Overseas players in 6th place overall.

Local Hastings favourite John McIver, 7th overall is sitting pretty in the Category 2 pack with Freddie Blackburn-Shaw leading the Category 3/4 players.

The battle for the British Open Novice Champion is also hotting up with Michael Salter, making his tour debut, holding a 6 shot lead ahead of the rest of the novice players.

All in all a superb days play by all involved and promises to give us a terrific climax come Sunday afternoon.
