The Green Open

THE FINAL TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR

The final competition of the 2010 calendar takes place on Saturday 18th December – The Green Open (at The Green, Hither Green).

The competition with consist of 4 rounds (72 holes), teeing off at Midday. Entry fees are £15 for adults, £10 for juniors (under 18's) and BMGA members can receive a day rate of £10 at the course, for unlimited play.

Due top the generosity of Nick Sandqvist (the owner of the course) there will be a guaranteed prize fund total of £1000 (with a £500 first prize) if the competition has 36 players or more! This will rise to £1500 if the field has the maximum 54 entrants. Individual prize money to be confirmed before the event!!!!

There will be prizes for top players, top juniors, top novices and the Ace's Champion and it promises to be a great way to end the 2010 tour.

An application form for the event can be found here and if you want to enter this event then please get your entries in ASAP. Alternatively contact chairman@minigolf.org.uk to reserve your place in the event (payment can be made on the day if you prefer).

Congratulations to James Rutherford for winning the Green Open and taking the top prize of £400.

Scott Lancley came 2nd (£150) and Michael Smith 3rd (£75) having beaten Adam Kelly in a sudden death play off at the third hole.

Adam picked up the Aces Champion prize (£75).

Julio Kent picked up the top junior prize (£75) and Marion Homer picked up the top woman prize (£75).

Nick Sandqvist took the top novice prize (£75)

Michael also set a new official course record of 27 with his final round of the day.

Thanks to Nick Sandqvist (Green course owner) for his hospitality and generosity on the day, to Marc Chapman for managing the scoring and also giving some great coaching advice to the new players in particular, and to all the players who braved the cold and the heavy snow to play in the event.

It was great to see Marion do so well. As TK Max said yesterday, the Hurricanes would have come out on top against the Spitfires on yesterday's form.
Adam was terrific and wins will come very very soon for him. Scott was unbelievable, he's played so well from the British open onwards.

Really enjoyed the tournament especially my first round! Thanks to my playing Partners and especially well done to Scott - that has been coming for a while!!
Glad everyone got home safely we'll have to have some sort of a summer bash when the weather should be better!!!!!
I think I might play in a few more tournaments next year, I have been working on my stance and my breathing and its definitely starting to pay off - all of the Team Kent players have inspired me to do better...none more so than our fearless(and somewhat poorly) leader Sean!
