The competition is open to all and will consist of 3 rounds in total. The event will tee...-off at 9am with one round on the MATELEYS course, followed by two further rounds on the EXPLORERS course.

Are we going to be lucky with the weather? The KIT was always looking OK but the forecast for Sunday has changed overnight... don't get too excited but perhaps a less damp day than predicted lies ahead?

Thanks to all for the kind words following my win at the 2010 Kent Open today (now a 2 time KO champion!), having beaten Tony Kelly in a play off with an ace at the first sudden death hole (Tony having equalled the EXPLORERS course record of 35 in the third round - Nick Chitty set the MATELEYS record on Saturday in the KIT with 33 and Marc Chapman had set the Explorers record also in the KIT). Ted McIver came 3rd having defeated Adam Kelly in a sudden death play off with an ace at the 4th hole.

Adam Kelly retained his Kent Open Junior crown, with Seth Thomas taking the runner up Junior slot along with the top novice prize.

In the team tournament, Michael Smith, Richard Gottfried and James Davies took the honours.

Thanks to Mark Davies, Glenn Martin, Joanne Pring and all of the team at World Of Golf for their superb hospitality and welcome - it was a pleasure to run the tournament at the Lost Island Encounter as a result. Thanks also to our official photographer (photos to follow) and score checker for the day (take a bow Emily Gottfried!).

Thanks to everyone who supported the event (several players travelled some distance to take part this weekend) - it is always greatly appreciated - and particular thanks for observing the minutes silence at 11am perfectly within the midst of the 2nd round (a very poignant moment that will linger in the memory for some time).

And last but by no means least a HUGE thanks to all of the KMGC for their support and for making this whole minigolf lark such a great experience!!!! VTK!!!

Well done Sean. You played very well today. 2 wins is the minimum you deserve for a fantastic season. Great shot to win the play off. Many congratulations.

It was fantastic to see Tony and Adam do so well and score their best results of the season in a strokeplay event. Both have improved a lot this year. A brilliant effort by Tony to get his best ever result and making Sean's job even tougher for picking the CC teams.

And well played to Adam for showing maturity way beyond his years on 2 difficult and sometimes unfair courses. Without one piece of bad luck at the pipe hole in round 3 and he would have been in the play off for 1st. But really well played across the two days.

Also great effort by Marc just for coming to both events when he probably should have been in bed. It's that commitment and determination that has seen him achieve such good results in 2 years and will hopefully see us over the line in a fortnight.

As always, thanks to Sean and Marion for running a great tournament.

See you all soon. VTK

Given that Sean not only ran the tournament on the day but did all the pre-amble on his own as I was feeling well ropey after the KIT last night, his victory is even stronger. - I deserve no credit on this occasion!
As always I am not only amazed by the level of skill on display from Team Kent, but also the heart the game is played with. Every player from the club today played with a determination and pride for their team that is envied by other clubs.
We are always a force to be reckoned with and the Club Champs will see that Team Kent are winners as individuals and a collective - VTK

Well played Sean - I certainly don't mind losing a play-off to an ace like that Smile

Congratulations to Adam on another very solid and consistent performance throughout the weekend and for being the only player to make the top 4 on both days.

Very well done to Seth on winning the novice prize.

Thanks to Sean and Marion as ever for their flawless organisation. It was a really nice touch to have the minute's silence, even if the klaxon did go off as I was standing over my second putt on the volcano!

Thank you to Michael for his encouragement this season. He has been telling me all year that if only I believed in myself, I would be winning tournaments and I am finally starting to believe him Very Happy Very Happy

See you all at The Green on the 28th or hopefully before Smile

Excellent report Michael, I look forward to reading more of them.

The Kent Open was organised fantastically and played in a good spirit. Most importantly everybody including myself I think had a lot of fun; not something I thought I would say after my first 4 holes. Very Happy.

It was a very tight tournament and several people could have won it. I was glad it went to one of the Kent players for I know not only are you by far the best club in the country you also have the nicest members all of whom have been nothing but kind and courteous towards me.
Smile

For fear of sounding gushing and sentimental, I will just add that GMGC team 1 are going to absolutely batter you in the club championships. (and when I say best club in the country that is of course excepting the GMGC!) Evil or Very Mad

Eerm and if anyone is interested I'll be down at the Green this Saturday.

Spoken like a true gentlemanly minigolf warrior Seth! lol!
BTW, how on earth did you Ace the 8th on the Explorer Course TK? That was the one hole of the 36 that I thought couldn't be aced! I experimented going off the right wall as there's a line there, but there was too many small bits of rock laying around.

Haha, I was just kidding Michael. I can't afford to get into gamemanship mainly because I'm so bad at it. Under pressure, I melt like butter in a television studio.

You'll be fine in the tournament Seth. You're with 3 steady personalities (at least if Nick sticks to what he says will be his top team - You, Nick, James, Chris). All of the other top players are as friendly as we are.(even Tim) Just try and enjoy it, it's only a game after all.
