World Crazy golf Championships Entry Opens

Hastings Adventure Golf are delighted to announce the details of the 2018 World Crazy Golf Championships. This year’s competition will be taking place over the weekend of 9th and 10th June. This is seen by many as the 'flagship' event in the Mini Golf calendar attracting players from across the UK and Europe, all competing for the biggest prize fund in mini golf. As well as the £1000 for the overall winner and an additional £2,000 prize fund for the top players overall, the 2018 event will once again ring fence an additional £1,500 exclusively for the novice players, with the best placed novice picking up £500 at the event. And if a novice wins the overall event, then they will also pick up the £1000 for the winner as well!!

The main event will be run over two days and a total of 7 rounds with the final adopting the 'crazy crazy' rules on Sunday afternoon. For the first time ever the novice event will run as a one day event over 4 rounds, players will be battling it out for the £1500 prize fund. This year the organisers are looking to ensure the 'fun' element lives on with various prizes up for grabs along the lines of 'best dressed', 'personality of the weekend', 'most improved player’. Further details will be released a month before.

Seasoned pro and twice runner up Sean Homer said "Hastings remains the spiritual home of all things minigolf related and the World Crazy Golf Championship has been at the forefront of the game in the UK for fifteen years. I made my debut in 2006 and got hooked on the game as a result and have played in every event since then. I think it’s fantastic that the event this year is again focussing on what has always made this event so special - a fun, exciting, inclusive and entertaining spectacle for the young, old and everyone in between. The key is to have fun and I'm delighted that 2018 sees the competition continuing to encourage new players in particular to give it a go. The bottom line is that If you love crazy golf and having fun on the greens, then this is without doubt the best competition of the year and one that you really shouldn't miss!! The prizes up for grab over the weekend are really the icing on the cake in what is a brilliant way to spend a weekend in Sunny Hastings. The team at Hastings Adventure Golf always give the players such a welcome over the weekend and their hospitality is second to none. An absolute must play event!"

Entry into the novice event is £25 * with the main event priced at £40.

*Novice T&C Players are classified as a novice if...
They have not entered the World Crazy Golf Championships before
Are not a recognised international player
Have not finished in the top ten of a BMGA tour event

The first of the KMGC to sign up for this years event - but I know there will be more to come.

I think this years event is a real landmark event this season. It's a chance for minigolfing friends to come together for what has always been a weekend, for me anyway, that is genuinely more about the taking part, than anything else. Of course, everyone wants to do well - and the marvellous folk at the KMGC have got a pretty good record when it comes to the podium at the WCGC's.

But I can honestly say I've enjoyed the event wherever I've finished... it is more about the people than anything else.

Rules. Regulations. Trials and tribulations (blimey sounds like i'm going to break into song). All of these come and go... but it is the people that make the event special. From the team at the course, through to the new players who take to the greens for the first time, and our marvellous club mates.

The Saturday night meals at the Italian Way back in the day were always a great highlight of the weekend. Who can forget the multiple Tiger Meals as the poor chap often fell asleep mid meal (and let's not talk about the tipping or lack of!).

I am really looking forward to the weekend. Win or lose. It really doesn't matter to me. It's just great to be able to take part in something that has it's roots in the purest form of the game we all love to play.

This is all about enjoyment and fun. Nothing else matters. Be great to see some familiar faces. The KMGC will always be the greatest club in the country... often copied... but never bettered (or equalled!!).

Nice to see the new kids on the block, the Sussex Wasps, building up their numbers with 6 confirmed, the same as the (KMGC-lite) CEMGC crew from the badlands across the river.

We have had many a fine tussle with the PH crew over the years and they were the target to beat when it came to the epic clashes at the Club Championships. Given the success of the entries so far, we are looking to try and top the all time biggest field for the Crazies - 102 in 2005 - so the window has been extended to see if we can make this the biggest event ever. It’s already the biggest to be played solely on the Crazy course but it’s always nice to have a target

The players pack will be published and emailed to entrants shortly and the groups and tee off times for Day 1 will be published and circulated once the deadline for entries has passed.

Say hello to your Tournament Organisers for this weekends World Crazy Golf Championships! Marion and Sean Homer have been involved in the event for over a decade and are once again heading up the team for this years competition.



Marion says "Each year I look forward to travelling to Hastings to support Hastings Adventure Golf during the World Crazy Golf Championships. I have had the pleasure in playing and assisting in the organising of this unique event, where every year I meet new players as well as say hello to those who have played before."

World Crazy Golf Championships update: The groups for Day 1 along with the round 1 tee off times have now been published (see photo). We are delighted to announce the David Hartley, one of the founding fathers of the competition gets the honour of leading out the field at 9am along with the 2017 winner of the Gommery, Jessica Pilgrim and debutant Sam Dean. We look forward to cheering on all the groups as they start their quest to become a World Champion from Saturday morning!
