Evening Mini Golfers,

We're looking forward to hosting this again and seeing another Champion put on the oversize Tweed jacket.

Just to clear something up (not a whinge) - as a small local course, we only open weekends and school holidays until we get to the summer season when we open all week weather permitting.

As such, until the Easter Holidays, we're only open at weekends which is our advertised openings and normal for us. We can, by arrangement, open outside of these times for groups and we do open for student groups etc as we did last week. Due to insurance issues and the terms of our lease, we do not / can not allow play outside these times. We know our low fence allows easy access and we're more than happy for people to start practising early (or staying late) on 'official' practice / competition days as many of you like to get to courses at the crack of dawn!

So, we can arrange some group practice sessions easily enough but 'ninja' sessions are going to cause us a headache with the Council's Estates Department.

Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you next Month

cheers, Ant

Anthony Pope

Morning,

Thought I'd just give a weather update in case anyone was thinking of practising this weekend - I've seen a forecast that looks rubbish, especially Saturday.

If we're closed I'll post it up on here and the bmga forum asap and you can also check twitter.

Roll on some nice weather...

Sheila_Knowledge

I'll be down Easter Saturday, Ant. I'll bring some of that lovely Cambridgeshire weather with me.

Not knowing the Cambridgeshire local climate, I take that as good news...

Anthony Pope

Rubbish weather today - windy, drizzly at the moment with some rain due at lunchtime.

As such, I'm going down in a bit to do some jobs so I'll put the flags out at the same time but its not a great day.

Sheila_Knowledge

Cambridgeshire is the second driest county in England. We've hardly had any in rain through all of March. Do they still have the signs out saying Sunny Worthing around town, Ant?

Anthony Pope

Yeah, they're still dotted about.

'Wet & Windy Worthing' would be a better description at the moment.

Horrendous again today. We jet washed the course 3 weeks ago. Ideally, following that they'd be some warmish dry weather to brush out the remaining muck away. Not this year! Felt may be a bit 'brown' for the Masters....

BMGA 2015 British Masters – Players Info

Splash Point Mini Golf are proud to be hosting The Masters for the 4th time in Worthing.
We hope all the entrants enjoy their day and the following information may help.

Location
The course is located in Denton Gardens in Worthing, just off the A259 Brighton Road. We don’t have a postcode but if you’re using a sat-nav, BN11 2ES will get you close. We’re between the Pier and the new Splash Point Pool.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place//@50.8110527,-0.3640577,19z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0x93820fcd25f2d446

Public Transport
The 700 bus stops on the Brighton Rd just behind the course and Worthing and East Worthing station are both a 10 minute stroll away. We can’t decide which station is actually closer.

Parking
There is a pay and display car park alongside the course. It’s about £6.50 to park all day. On Sunday, on street parking is free and if you arrive quite early, you should get a space.

Food & Drink
Sunny Café and Coast Café are both outside on the prom and will be open all day. The latter gets very busy so Sunny’s may be a better bet if you want to grab a quick bite between rounds. Toilets are located at Coast café in the converted beach chalet. Alternatively, there are toilets about 2mins walk along the prom in the direction of the pier.

Non-playing partners, family etc
Not everyone wants to watch you play minigolf! If watching you take a 6 on the 7th gets dull, Worthing has plenty to offer in the way of shops, cafes etc. The town centre is a 2minute walk away best reached via Warwick St from the rear of the course.
Out on the prom by Coast café are the artists’ studios with more opened this year.

The Splash Point Swimming pool is just next door to the course and those of a hardy disposition who like swimming can try the sea which, at high tide, is about 50m due south…

The Southern Pavilion of the pier has been recently refurbished and Tourist Information can now be found in the Denton Lounge at the Pier’s entrance.

For those who enjoy ‘buttons’, the pier has a small arcade but the presence of Air Hockey is unknown.

The Course
The course is unchanged from previous years. It was jet washed in early March but the weather has been inclement since then. We will endeavour to get the felt as clean as possible before Sunday but it won’t be pristine. The last time it was pristine was approximately 5th May 2010 – opening day.

We unfortunately do not have any indoor areas to store bags etc. The kiosk will need to stay as clear as possible for the organisers’ equipment – thanks for your understanding with this.

We hope you enjoy the tournament and your day in Sunny (!) Worthing

Anthony Pope

Pack a brolly for Sunday.

Intel suggests rain at some point.

We have two water scoops available.

Sheila_Knowledge

UK weather suggests none expected. Typical, they haven't got a clue.

Thank you to everyone who came down - we always look forward to hosting this weekend and it was great to see you all.

We're pleased the course delivered another great winner and any of the top 3 could have won it coming into the 16th on the last round.

The weather played ball again (we're overdue a horrendous days Masters weather) and we really enjoy seeing the course full of BMGA'ers in 'competition mode'!

Good luck in Hastings next month and hopefully some of you will make it down in July for our Open.

cheers

Great hosting by Ant and Pete once again. We're privileged that you allow us to play on the most challenging course in Britain. See you in July.
