The VTK SHIELD - MEMBER OF THE YEAR 2013

Hello from KMGC HQ!

Next weekend (9th & 10th November) sees the traditional KMGC season ending double header of the Kent Invitational Tournament (KIT) final and the Kent Open taking place at the Lost Island Encounter in Sidcup. Details of both these
events (including details of the KOB - the all new Kent Open ball) can be found on our website and this forum and everyone is of course welcome - but that's not the reason for this post.

This year will see the now annual  awarding of the VTK SHIELD to one of the club during this weekend. The VTK Shield was introduced last year to recognise the KMGC Member of the Year. We are looking for the members of the club that have contributed the most to advance the club - this could be in a number of areas but ultimately we are looking for someone that exemplifies what the KMGC is all about.

And for all members of the KMGC, this is where you have your say.

Each one of you can nominate members of the club for this award - all you need to do is PM me or email via admin@kentminigolfclub.co.uk with your top 3 (in 1,2,3 order) along with any reason why the person(s) nominated should receive the award for 2013. There votes will be counted up (3 points for 1st place, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd).

All nominations must be received by Sunday evening (3rd November) at the latest to enable us to work out who's won and to get the shield engraved in time for the following weekends festivities and the presentation.



I was honoured to receive the shield last year (and as such will not be eligible for your votes this year) and will take great pride in awarding the shield next weekend to the worthy recipient for 2013.

This is a great part of our club season ending celebrations along with our KIT and KO events.

Good evening team mates!

I wanted to take the time to express what I couldn't at the course this afternoon when you paid me the highest honour and awarded me the VTK Shield as member of the year.

As some of you are aware, my Mum is in the last stage of her battle against cancer, and I'm subsequently a bit all over the place emotionally.

Anyway, I have been privileged to be part of Team Kent since it first started and have enjoyed not only seeing our players become dominant in the GB minigolf scene, but also the way we as a club go about our business, welcoming new players, nurturing talent and having fun.

I am proud to support all of you at every event, and if I can make the tournaments run as smoothly on the day, as they were imagined in the brain of our Captain, allowing you all to have a great experience, and for Sean to play well, that has always been, and continues to be my goal.

So than kyou to each and everyone of you, I love being part of such a great diverse and friendly group of people, and let's make it 4 in a row at the Club Champs!!!

Well done Marion, thoroughly deserved of course & well done the KMGC for recognising this. A very popular part of the duo that has taken the KMGC into the major force in GB mini golf, also moving the BMGA forwards so far that recent newcomers cannot imagine! We are all sad for you, I've been in the position you're in with your poor mum so I know how you feel.
