If you are planning on playing but haven't yet paid, can you let me know ASAP so I can update the entrants list.

Also need to know who's going to be playing at the Hemsby Charity Event on the Saturday evening.

Look forward to seeing a healthy turnout of the KMGC at both!!

and one for the Kelly's: Paul Dickson (Wroxham's PR chap) has asked me to remind Adam to bring back the Top East Anglian trophy for the EO - the trophy will of course be staying in the Kelly household - but the real question is:

"can TK stop AK making it 3 years in a row?"

All will be revealed by Sunday afternoon!!!!

The BMGA return to Wroxham Barns for the 2011 English Open.

Entry costs £20 per player with the competition consisting of 3 rounds of strokeplay - teeing off at 9.30am prompt on the Sunday morning with an estimated finish of 1.45pm.

The course is offering a £10 practice day rate for BMGA tour members on the Saturday before the competition.

We are joining with the Lost World course at Hemsby for a pro-am charity pairs event at their course on Saturday evening before the EO - players can register for this event at the Wroxham barns course during Saturday practice.

We are also keen to hold the 2011 Players Forum at Wroxham - either on Saturday afternoon or immediately after the prize ceremony on Sunday afternoon. Again details will be confirmed at the course on Saturday morning and all players are welcome and encouraged to attend.

PRIZE FUND:

The new prize fund breakdown for 2011 sees all players split into one of 3 separate categories as detailed below (the category split is purely for the prize fund eligibility - categories will continue to be mixed together in the initial playing groups to ensure we have different levels of experience within each group).

Category 1 Players (current Top 16 / tour winners from 2010/2011 / current BMGA Tour Pro members)

These players are eligible for the overall prize fund places (top 3)

From the BMGA official website:

Congratulations to Michael Smith for winning the 2011 English Open at Wroxham Barns. Michael won in great style with an overall score of 90 strokes across the 3 rounds, culminating in a course record of 28 to take the title.

James Rutherford came second with Kevin Moseley taking third place. Richard Skeggs won the Category 2 prize with Marion Homer picking up the top female slot and 2nd place in the Category 2 and Oliver Florence third in the Category 2.

Robert Witton won the Novice title with Paul Smith a close second.

Nick Sandqvist picked up the aces champion prize with 14 aces across the tournament.

Thanks to all who took part, Ian Russell and the team at Wroxham Barns, Les and Barbara Anderson for their fantastic support and hospitality and also to Marion, Emily and Anna for helping out running the event.
