Great video Sean! Really looking foward to the BO now.

At about 2:05secs Scott hits a great shot up Heartbreak Ridge. Anyone know what ball he was using?

If anyone says FS4, I'll ask the BMGA to ban them from all future competitions. We can't have another gold-rush for a rubbish ball like we did last year!

The Scott from 2.05secs is actually Peter Feix from the Czech Republic.... I believe the technical term for his ball is very bouncy Laughing

I've just had a closer look! Scott appears a bit further on.

I have just the ball for that shot Ant - Maier MG60. It's bonkers & makes the FS4 look like a Dodo! You're welcome to try it. I did but I prefer the straight route to the hole.

Have another look at the video Ant, watch Peter's ball sail past the hole on the 11th - very amusing! lol!

Two early arrivals have already turned up at the course in readiness for the British Open next weekend...

And the eagle eyed viewers amongst you may notice some small but VERY significant enhancements to the course.

Unlucky with the late start guys, I had to wait for what seemed an eternity previously. With no praccy allowed I was nervous when I started!

The first round in particular is definitely a case of handling the nerves - I was late out last year and I found it useful to kick into spectator mode for the first hour, watch a few of the early groups then get into the mindset of competition play.... first out has the joy of everyone watching you like a hawk so it's swings and roundabouts really... can't wait for it all to start!

I see a couple of Planet Hastings players are feeling the nerves already, do you want to let them know they can't practice Sean? Or can I tell them? Twisted Evil

Cindy Kukielka

Team K are very happy with their groups. I will enjoy playing with 2 great juniors. Jas is very happy to be in Sean's group as he had hoped to be playing with him. He believes he may have established some telepathetic connection!

What's happened to Matthias Stahl in the start list on the BMGA site?
We'll be gutted if he isn't playing! Rolling Eyes

Unfortunately he's unable to make the trip over this year due to illness.

I'm not sure if Bjorn has made the trip either - he was also suffering with heavy flu on Monday and was unsure whether or not he was going to make it over. Both great players and two of the fancied tips for the title...

Sorry, no one's feeling the nerves. lol!

I well remember teeing off very late the year before last, I survived. In the interest of fairness though I accepted the draw & didn't complain about it.
My tip is to relax & drink plenty of tea.

The Sports Committee have taken a look at three areas regarding the British Open and have agreed the following:

1) Practice - All practice will stop at the set time of 9.20am on Saturday and will resume once the final shots of round 4 are completed in line with the previous 2 years of the event

2) Play offs
- any play offs at the competition will run across 4 holes (holes 2, 11, 17 & 18) with the lowest combined score winning. If players are level after the 4 holes it goes to sudden death (same 4 holes) until a result is decided.

3) Novice prize - any player taking part in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd BMGA competition are eligible for this irrespective of what type of equipment they use.
