British Open - Hastings Pirate course - 20/21 September 2014

The weekend of September 20th and 21st sees the BRITISH OPEN taking place at the Pirate Course in Hastings, the course hosting the event for the first time.

The course has previously hosted the WAGM in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and provides a fitting venue for our premier event of the year.

Entries for the competition are now open. Entry costs £50 with a reduced entry fee of £40 for BMGA tour pros and £20 for juniors (under 18). Free practice at the course on Friday 19th September is included in the entry fee. The course are offering a special day rate from Monday 15th to Thursday 18th for tournament entrants of just £3.25 per person per day (a BMGA tour pro rate of £10 per person per day is available all year round at the seafront courses).

As is traditional, the PLAYERS & INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP will take place on the Friday afternoon before the Open.

What time roughly would the Friday bits be happening? I'll have work in the morning but would hope to be there for 3pm.

The Players Championship usually starts at 2pm Sheila, I may have to work until 1 so will need to rush down if I want to play too.

Might be cutting it fine but I'll down for practise. Got the weekend off so I'm in.

Gutted I can't make it but hoping to come down on Saturday & maybe Friday. Great field so far, nice to see the foreign players coming over & it'll be good to see Norbert again - top bloke!

Couple of points.

1) Players pack will be produced over the weekend so if you're not already in the list and want to play then the clock is ticking

2) I'm meeting Mike Ridley from the Sun over at Sidcup tomorrow morning from 10.30 for a chat and a few rounds - if anyone's free and fancies helping coach a novice then feel free to pop along.

You should receive Paul Preston's entry any day. He is aware he has until this Saturday to enter but has been on holiday.

Had some cheeky practice today with Mark Wood, made all the better when he bought me a massive ice cream and forgot to ask for the 50% discount!

A lot of international players there, down for the week.  I spoke to the Kosovan boys who look like they will be pretty good by the weekend after learning the course.  Their dad is here with them too.  Hot news is Tiger hit a 30 (I was there, he was well chuffed of course).

It's going to be a great weekend.

The organiser will be down there tomorrow to see how everyone is getting on and to mark out the all new tee off areas for 2014...

So what are people's practice plans for the rest of the week? Anyone down before Friday?

And don't forget that the mighty KMGC have our British Open team title to defend. To be honest it was a bit of a stroll last year. But with the WAGM style rules and the strength of field it should be a good battle.

The KMGC will have 4 teams - 2 x 4 players and 2 x 3 players.
