Would anyone be interested in checking out the Asian Open, takes place on an island off the coast of Iran in November.  The flight would be via Dubai.

I'm slightly interested and thought I'd see what it was all about.  Pasi has been there to check it out and seems confident it will be a good place to go to play minigolf.

Personally I find it a tad uneasy to say the least that the WMF are looking at Iran as a venue for any events. I know that Kish is off the coast but given the ongoing human rights violations in Iran and the fact that it is tagged as an event linked to Iran then I would not feel comfortable endorsing this.

It is of course down to the individual and yes, sport can break down barriers but I have a feeling that it is financial rather than inspirational reasons that the event is being held there.

Just my two penneth....

Funnily enough I report any activity my part of BP has with countries with sanctions against them and of course one of these is Iran.

I'd be interested to hear from Pasi what he thought, and also any restrictions. eg the freedom of male and female participants playing together (they can't swim in the sea together I don't think)

If you look at the current itinerary it has a male, female split in practice times and competition times.
