The 2016 World Crazy Golf Championships to see the biggest prize fund ever for the legendary event.

£4,500 prize fund up for grabs for what promises to be the biggest World Crazies ever…

Hastings Adventure Golf and the British Minigolf Association are delighted to announce the details of the 2016 World Crazy Golf Championships taking place over the weekend of 11th and 12th June, attracting players from across the UK and Europe, all competing for the biggest prize fund ever in the competitions history. As well as the £1000 for the overall winner and an additional £2,000 prize fund for the top players overall, the 2016 event also has a purse of £1,500 exclusively for the novice players, with the best placed novice picking up £500 at the event, now in the new summer slot in the calendar. And if a novice wins the overall event, then they will also pick up the £1000 for the winner as well!! A perfect incentive for new players who want to take part in this fantastic competition.

For the 2016 event, a ‘Novice’ player is classed as any 1st year Tour Pro that has not previously played in any BMGA ‘Major’ and Non Tour Pro’s who are playing in their first World Crazy Golf Championship(WCGC) or have only played in one previous WCGC. NB. Existing or Previous Tour Pro’s, International players from recognised World Minigolf Sport federations are not classed as ‘novice’ players. Any player eligible for the novice category will be identified on the entry list with a (N).

The organisers expect the biggest field of Nutters with Putters to descend on the Sussex seafront for the new June date

If you want to get a flavour of what the competition is all about then take a look at this recent article from Pete Ross, published in the Big Issue. Pete took part in the 2015 competition and really captures what this unique event is all about. Read the full article at http://www.bigissue.com/features/6402/nutters-with-putters-100-years-of-crazy-golf

Entry fees for the competition, the second Major of the season are as follows:

£35 for Tour Pros
£40 for Non Tour Pros

The event will tee off from 9am on the Saturday and players will be split into a morning start and an afternoon start. Each player will play 4 rounds on the Saturday and a further 2 rounds on the Sunday. There will then be a final round for the top 18 novices and top 18 overall using the legendary crazy crazy rules. Full details of this will be communicated on the competition weekend.

Due to the two separate tee off groups, there will be no practice for any players on the Saturday - but as always, the entry fee includes free practice at the course on the Friday. The official players pack will be circulated to all players a week before the competition, detailing all relevant information along with day 1 groups and tee off times and the confirmed prize fund split.

The official ball for the competition (the only ball that any entrant can use for the competition) will be available at the course from 9am on the Friday (the ball will lbe similar properties to the 2015 competition ball).

The course are offering a £12 day rate for all players on the production of a valid 2016 BMGA Tour Pro card.

The entry form can be found at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59:forms&catid=36:tournamentsforms&Itemid=56

A list of entrants (and results when the tournament starts) will appear at the following link shortly http://bmga.co.uk/2016WCGC/result.htm

Sean Homer, Chairman of the BMGA said "The anticipation for this years competition is incredibly high. The change of date that sees the event take place in the summer is a major boost given the adverse weather we've experienced at times in the traditional October slot and we are looking forward to what we expect to be the biggest field ever for the competition. It's also brilliant news to have the additional ring fenced prize money for the novice players - this will add another exciting aspect to the 2016 competition and should prove to be a superb incentive for new players who want to take part in a World Championships. The World Crazy Golf Championships has been a great way for players to experience the excitement and fun of a minigolf tournament - it was my first event way back in 2005 - and continues to be one of the highlights of our season. The hospitality and welcome we all receive from the team at Hastings makes this a tournament to remember for everyone who takes part and we look forward to welcoming everyone in June."

Please share, tweet, etc on your various Social media platforms... be great to get the word out to as many non Tour Pros as possible.

And of course, get your entries in ASAP to secure a place in what promises to be a cracker of an event!!

Congratulations Michael for yet another World Crazies win. I'm sure there are many more to come post-last year's retirement.

Well done to all the BMGA EC and helpers involved for a well run, interesting event with a very different feel and format.

It's a great shame that the move to this particular June weekend has seen yet another decline in playing numbers despite the initial optimism of 'the biggest World Crazies ever'. I do hope this decision and it's justification is reviewed by the EC, as I feel that overall, it hasn't met both the courses and BMGA's expectations.

Loved the new KMGC shirts - worn with pride on Saturday...still prefer the Black over the Orange Razz

Yes well done Michael on another great win - he copes with rain, wind & cold too well as we knew already, we now know he can cope with all three & hot sun thrown in to the mix too!
Stunning play from Sean too, congratulations on a great result FB, sadly I blew my chance to play with you & Michael with my small 'blip', but happy overall after my initial surprise that I'd made the top 7.

Very sad that the numbers weren't increased this year despite the fact that we were hoping to play in better weather which most thought would attract more new players, but despite the unlucky cold wet spell today, most would say it is a better time of year to play the tournament. I certainly would. There were a lot of new faces so hopefully they'll return with friends next year to boost the numbers again.

Great showing from the superbly attired KMGC, well done all & especially Sean, Marion, Scott, Tony & Martin for the super organisation once again.

Brilliant weekend.

And boy, didn't we look the business when we rolled up with the new KMGC tops.

The only downside with the tops is that we'll have to do it all again next year to get the sixth star on a new one!!!
