A different sort of challenge.

At least the ball will have a consistent bounce now. Generally a lot more pleasuresble experience now. The golf ball can be a bit of a nightmare with them metal cups though!! As well as being quite light so if the winds get up it will certainly make it very challenging!!
But a lot better than last year anyway
Lanes 7,15 & 18 are really worth practicing as well as all putting on the 17th with the robbing green & metal cup!!

Let the madness continue... affraid

I decided to play with a golfball only & had no praccy, some felts are still lightning fast, whereas the newer carpet is very slow, cups are worse with the GB (if possible) New lines are needed on only a few holes, just pace practice on the others!
There was no wind yesterday though.......

I'm thinking hole 10 will be trickier and maybe holes 2 and 18 (having nightmares about the rebound ping already!)

Going round the side on H2 is still ok, if short it leaves you putting uphill, a far better option. H10 & H13 can now be shot at with rebounds so in that respect the GB's better now. I followed Freddie who played for the double rebound off the side & back on H10, his ball shot off the wall at a right angle & left him a well dodgy 2nd putt. I changed at that moment to a single rebound, a tiny bit more pace & it would've been in. H18 was ok going over the ramp, if you miss the hole you get a reasonable ping back towards the hole so another hole that's possibly better with the GB. H5 I hardly touched & it shaved the hole & went 18 inches past, that's gonna be tricky in windy conditions, as will H6. I'd better practice. affraid

Looks like perfect par will win the crazies! The score I mean...not the now deceased 'crazy' golfer...

Thanks Marc.

I agree with the earlier comments. The good news is that the lines that worked last year are working this year and I agree completely with your assessment that the new felt has settled down nicely. I think the golf ball should see slightly lower scoring and more aces if conditions are calm but if it's windy then it will be even harder than last year.

Generally the course is playing very similar to 2012 but with the golf ball being far bouncier and lighter than the 2012 course balls I would advise you spend a good deal of practice time on holes 7, 10, 15 and 18 as those are the holes that are really playing differently.

BTW, I was (un)fortunate enough recently to be given two copies of the most ridiculous book ever published - 'Nutters With Putters'*. An insight into the minds of two lunatic minigolfers, one of whom has sadly left these shores, the other who feels fit to offer a scabby 1970's emu puppet & motheaten copy of 'Language & Music of the Wolves' - narrated by Robert Redford on a 12inch vinyl, as prizes in a competition. I already have a copy personalised (rudely) so as I can't be bothered to waste time putting them on ebay only for no one to bid - they're up for grabs, if you want a copy bukshee, post here, first come first served.
*Actually, it is quite funny really! Smile
