British Crazy Golf Open - Sunday 3rd March 8442579648_56f3336931_c

The first outdoor event of the year takes place on Sunday March 3rd as we see a brand new event on the BMGA tour - the BRITISH CRAZY GOLF OPEN - taking place at the legendary Arnold Palmer Crazy Golf course at Hastings seafront.

The event is open to all players (with BMGA Tour Pro's benefitting from a reduced entry fee) and will mirror the format of the second day of the World Crazy Golf Championships - 2 rounds of strokeplay followed by a final 3rd round using the Crazy Crazy rules - with all competitors using the standard course ball.

However unlike the WCGC's, all players will play this final round and get the chance to experience the fun and mayhem of having all balls in play at once (something that only the top 18 players get to enjoy at the World Championship).

Standard entry £20 per player

BMGA 2013 Tour Pro £15 per player

Juniors (14 to 18 years) £10 per player

The list of confirmed entrants so far can be found at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_eventlist&view=details&id=95&Itemid=56

OK - so it looks like we will have a good turnout of the KMGC on the Saturday (as well as accounting for over half of the field on Sunday!!).

The Saturday sees the first Club fixtures for the Club league that the BMGA will be supporting in a bid to get more club players taking part in the main events this year.

The ideal is for each club to play a series of Club Championship style matches (3 or 4 players, matchplay, best 3 scores count per hole. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw. etc) culminating in a Club League table at the end of the season.

Looks lke an open invite for the KMGC to win something else this year before our 4th Club Championship title.

Anyway the first round is scheduled for Saturday afternoon and should see CMGC vs KMGC and LMGC vs MMGC.

As we have too many players (woe is us!!) I'm suggesting that we have a 1 round strokeplay event just after lunch on Saturday and our 4 best scoring players will then represent the KMGC in the first match later that afternoon. Should be a nice warm up for Sunday and a good way for all of us to get a bit of quality competition with us all together!!

NB: I am going to suggest that the club matches on Saturday are all course ball only as this mirrors the format for the main tournament. When it's a normal unlimited ball main event (such as the Masters at Splash Point) then it would make sense for teams to use any balls in the club matches as well.

Look forward to seeing you all at the course on Saturday (and Sunday).

And one final point - the results and league table do not have any bearing on the Club Championships - the format of this will be communicated later in the season (I will probably have to tweak the format from 2012 as I have a feeling the KMGC may well have a fourth outfit to line up alongside the Spitfirres, Hurricane and Tornados!!)

VTK!!

British Crazy Golf Open - Sunday 3rd March 8512062013_13d9cb15f2_z

The British Crazy Golf Open competition day will also have the tour's first ever Hole-In-One Challenge competition, taking place between rounds 2 & 3 of the Crazy Golf Open.

This will be open to all (tournament competitors and the general public alike) and will cost just £1 per entry (£2 for BMGA Category 1 players).

The hole for the challenge will be confirmed on Sunday after round 2 of the Crazy Golf Open

Half of the entry fees will go forward to the Players Championship charity fund (taking place in September, the day before the British Open) and the remainder available to be won in the challenge. Each entrant gets 1 shot at the designated course hole (which will be confirmed on the day) – any players getting a hole-in-one will share the prize pot (if no-one aces the hole then the fund rolls forward to the next event).

Each event on the BMGA tour this season will have a shoot-out competition.

BTW, For those that may have always wondered, Elvis didn't croak in the late 70's, he's alive, living in Whitstable & back in Paddock Wood performing on Saturday night. If it goes as well was the last time I should be fit for nothing on Sunday - that may well improve my putting! drunken

Very exciting with a day to go until a few practice rounds.

Re the course ball question, does it have to be one from Hastings or can I use, for example, a Sidcup course ball?

These things keep me awake at night!
