2013 BMGA TOUR CALENDAR ANNOUNCED

Dear fellow minigolfer,

With the new season set to tee off in just over two weeks time, here’s the latest news and information from the British Minigolf Association.

2013 BMGA TOUR CALENDAR ANNOUNCED

I am delighted to be able to announce the details of the 2013 tour calendar, including all of our Major events for the year. As well as welcome returns on the tour for a few courses not visited for the past couple of seasons, we also have a brand new event taking place in March, which, alongside established domestic and international competitions, makes up a tremendous series of events. There are still more events to be confirmed in what is already lining up to be a classic year for minigolf competitions in the UK. As a reminder, the traditional season opener - the STAR CITY OPEN in Birmingham - is taking place on Sunday 27th January 2013. Entry is £20 per player and following the success of the 2012 event, the competition is taking place on the upper course only, across 3 rounds of strokeplay, starting at 9am prompt. Hope to be at the next tournament in Hastings, very poor form to organise tournaments on a Saturday during the cricket season

Quick Q: re the Hastings tournament is the course ball used? If so, do you have to pick up a ball on the day or is it acceptable to use a ball from a previous time? Just wondered.

I think I can probably answer that one Alien, if your ball is one used at Hastings recently it should be ok, or just collect another on the day - Which I will be doing as I was so P****d off after the CCC I whacked my ball up the 19th to try & get a free round. (I failed)

It hasn't been decided yet - but it may well be that players have to pick a ball at random on the day.

oh bloody hell. some of them are truly awful. The rest are worse!

Please DO do that! What's the point in calling it a CRAZY golf tournament if you don't try and make it crazy?!? Personally I think the whole tournament should be played under crazy rules but I expect Michael would explode with rage if that were the case...

If you got one of the really duff balls (there are plenty) then had terrible playing partners during the whole Tournament playing Crazy rules, you may think differently AK!

I guess it levels the field if it's random. Otherwise we may as well all bring our favourite balls (mine now being the lovely VTK but I know no better!)

I had a ball at the Cup Cake Classic tournament with zero bounce (but that had no impact on shoddy missed putts of course).

The trouble is that some of them only resemble being round! Ruth had one with a big bulge on one side!

Another question: are the events (eg the Masters in April) open to all BMGA members are or some invite only?

Only the specific club invitational tournaments are invite only, all the rest are open to all BMGa players.

Apart from the ongoing 'which balls can we use' questions regarding the British Crazy Golf Open, I would appreciate any other feedback and thoughts on the calendar - either on this thread or via PM if you prefer!!
