Drum roll please...

The first event of the KMGC's 2013 calendar is confirmed.

The 2013 CUP CAKE CLASSIC at the Hastings Seafront courses (yes courses!!).

Sunday 6th January 2013

11am start (£10 day rate payable to the course for unlimited practice up to 11am and entry into the CCC).

2 rounds of strokeplay (the lowest counting towards the 2013 KIT) - one on the Crazy Golf Course and one on the Pirate Course followed by a final round of Crazy Crazy rules (on the Crazy Golf Course) to decide the 2013 champion (currently held by TK Max).

Single ball rule for all three rounds (yes the wonderful course balls as used at the WCGC's will be the ball of choice!).

Sausage rolls will be provided and feel free to bring along assorted festive treats to share!

I will send out email invites to all the club and honourary guests and look forward to seeing you all there!!! (if you can confirm via this thread of via email - be useful to know the numbers to ensure suitable supplies of snacks!!).

The Cup Cake Classic Hall Of Fame:

2012 - Tony 'TK Max' Kelly
2011 - Marc 'The Force' Chapman
2010 - Peter 'Empton' Emmerson
2008 - Sean 'Freebird' Homer

And for those who are wondering where 2009's event is - 2008 was held in December but from 2010 onwards the CCC has been held in January so we aren't missing one but the dates switched!!

And a blast from the past to whet the appetite (featuring the legendary, now sadly departed, Mini course):

I think we may need to buy an industrial sized oven to cope with the number of SR's likely to be required for the CCC!

Big minigolf week. Read "Nutters With Putters", , watched Gudge Match (then realised it was from 2003), played first round with new club, joined BMGA and now an invite to the CCC. Hope to be there.

CCC factoids:-

1) Nobody has ever successfully defended the Cup Cake Classic
2) Nobody has ever won the CCC twice
3) The CCC has never been held on the Pirate course

I confidently predict that at least one of these records will go on Sunday Laughing

Here's another factoid for the record books:

Only 1 player in history has won all of the KMGC 'Big 5' - the Cup Cake Classic (once), The Easter Eggstravaganza (three times), The Megabowl (once), The KIT (twice) and the Kent Open (Twice).

I thank you.

Congratulations to Michael 'Hole In One Kenobi' Smith - the newest member of the Cup Cake Classic winners club!

A great day and some superb performances as always from the ever growing ranks of the finest Minigolf Club in the UK - the mighty KMGC!!!

Some photos from the day can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/13680867@N02/sets/72157632450097773/ and the full results can be found at http://www.kentminigolfclub.co.uk/2013CUPCAKECLASSIC/result.htm

Great to see so many new faces and also superb that our Kent Open debutants have clearly caught the minigolfing bug!!

Look forward to hearing about the Impossi Challenge - I had to get back to Homer Towers to make sure Marion was OK and not too depressed at missing her first Cup Cake Classic!!

All is well and the Homers will be back up to full strength again for Star City in 3 weeks time.

VTK!!!

It was weird to be at a KMGC tournament without The Force, DG or DT. But what a day. Thanks to all those who baked so excellently and of course to Sean for yet another impeccably run tournament, and to Alex for running the Impossi Challenge. It may have 'only been a friendly' but what a great performance and result from Will, and congratulations as well to Alien on his first win. Hard to believe but the strength in depth is increasing all the time.

Hope Marion isn't feeling too bad and makes a super fast recovery.

VTK, and more importantly,

Bah Humbug! Very Happy

What better way to banish the post Xmas and New Year blues than settling back and dipping into the first HIOK report of the year:

http://www.kentminigolfclub.co.uk/2013CCC.htm

A great start to what I am sure will be another vintage year for the KMGC.

Hi Michael - I'm fully recovered - thanks.

Please pass on your thanks to Mum and Dad for my great pin - I love it!

I'll see everyone at Star City.

Great competitions & food, our group enjoyed ourselves and now can't wait till the 'Eggstravaganza'

KMGC competitive, but really friendly competition.

Looks like we may be bringing a couple of female competitors next time Shocked

ClockworkOrange

Well played Will. May seem a bit condescending saying that when you lost by 6 shots over 3 rounds, but Michael's probably had an off season more intense than Andy Murrays'. Wink
