HIOK

HIOK

I'm intending to host this event in February, probably nearer the end of the month.
Current possible dates include:
Sat: 11th, 18th or 25th.
Sun: 12th, 19th, or 26th.
A sunday will probably be better.
I would like to try and get the biggest possible field and the event will give people the chance to practice ahead of the ROW match in March. Whilst the final decision on the date will be between Sean and Mark D at Sidcup, does anybody have any preferences for the date, or any dates listed that they cannot make?

Thanks
Michael

The last weekend (25th/26th) would be better from the course point of view (the other 2 weekends staddle the half term).

DT & FB will be available for what is guaranteed to be the weirdest (in a good way) event of the year!!

I can manage any of these dates but a Saturday would be preferable especially for AK47 who has band practice on Sunday afternoons.

Saturday 25 Feb would be great for me but Sunday 26 Feb would be ok.

I asked Matty if he wanted to play at Sidcup in February, his reply made me laugh:
"Will there be sausage rolls?"
lol!

HOLE IN ONE KENOBI MASTERS 2012

WHERE: Lost Island Adventure Golf at Sidcup World of Golf.
WHEN: Sunday 26th February. The courses are open for practice at 8AM. Practice will end at 9:20 with the event teeing off at 9:30. The tournament will finish by 1:00.
ENTRY FEE: £10. £5 is payable to Sidcup World of Golf, the other £5 will be donated to this year’s charity, the British Heart Foundation.
FORMAT: 4 rounds (2 of these will be very quick!!) of Minigolf. Each round will have a unique format or ruling to it that ensures the event will be very different from any BMGA tour event. But there will be no tricks or gimmicks; it will still be a competition of great skill and fairness.
PRIZES: Every player will win at least one prize, some will be ‘lucky’ enough to win several. There will be a prize for the winner of each round, medals for the top 3, a trophy for the winner, prizes for the bottom 3, and many others to be announced on the day.

HIOK MASTERS:

☻ Round 1 on Mateleys.
☻ Rounds 2-4 on Explorers.
☻ There will be a quick turnaround between rounds 1 and 2, and rounds 3 and 4. Will be a decent gap (about 20 mins) at half time.
☻ The event mainly be played in pairs with some groups of three.
☻ Time and weather permitting, round 4 will be a rolling start in reverse leader-board order.
☻ There is a prize for the winner of each round. In the event of a tie, a sudden-death play-off will decide the winner. This will take place at holes 9, 10, and 17. A player can only win one best round prize. Should a player top the rankings in a round for a 2nd time, the prize will go to the player who finishes 2nd and so on.
☻ After 4 rounds, any ties for the medal positions will be settled by a 3 hole play-off at holes 9, 10, and 17.
☻ Other than the rules below, normal BMGA rules will apply.

Round 1 – Best Mate

Normal rules except that the maximum number of shots per hole is 3. If the ball isn’t holed in three shots, pick it up and score a 4. Lowest score wins the round.

Round 2 – The Illegality of Perfect Pars

The goal is consecutive aces at the same hole. If the first putt misses, pick the ball up and score zero or an X. If you score an ace, play the shot again and try to ace the hole as many times as you can. Maximum score is 5 aces per hole. Most aces wins the round.

Any aces scored in round 2 will be subtracted from the round 1 total.

Round 3 – Odds or Evens

Decision time. Nine hole round. Choose to play either the odd numbered holes or the even numbered holes. The twist that if you pick the odds, two shots will be added to your total. There is no handicap or adjustments for picking evens.

To help make up your minds, here are some ‘fascinating’ stats from the 2011 British Open:
☻ On average, the top 6 scored 1.61 shots lower on the odd holes than the evens.
☻ The average score on the odd holes was 18.38 compared to 18.63 on the evens.
☻ 324 aces were scored on the odds compared with 185 on evens.
☻ It is interesting to see the differences between certain players. For example, Sean was -21 for the odds and -1 on the evens. In contrast, Andy was -9 on odds and -7 on evens.

Round 4 – One ball to rule them all

A completely normal round. Almost! Simply pick any Minigolf ball or course ball you like and play every shot with that ball.

Marc is bringing some cameramen to the event to do some filming and interviews for a documentary on him and his minigolf. Please keep all club chucking swearing to a minimum Wink and let’s all wear lots of orange and pink!

Should be a strong field. Hopefully we’ll have 4 Hurricanes, 4 Spitfires, The Hurricane, The Kid and The Ref from KMGC. Scott has convinced a friend to play, a Mr Trevor Norsworthy, and WMD and Clockwork Orange will be there.

Let me know if you have any questions, otherwise see you on Sunday.

Thanks Michael, a nice day weatherwise & the fine minigolf paradise that is Sidcup made for a great fun day! Shame I left my Mateleys notes at home though & couldn't remember any of it! Smile Nice to pick up the putter again after so long, got a bit better each round as the rust dropped off!
Thanks also to Brenda & Chris for helping things run smoothly.
Well done to AK47 on a fine win, also to WMD for 2nd. Matty was happy with his prizes & I'll enjoy the book, a great day & nice to be back with the KMGC! Cool
