From the March BMGA Newsletter...

I am delighted to confirm that the 2012 World Adventure Golf Masters (WAGM) is taking place in the UK for the second year running, with the Pirate Course at the Hastings seafront once again hosting the competition on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th May. Following discussions between the WMF and myself regarding the entry criteria for this years WAGM I am pleased to announce that there are no restrictions regarding entries for the 2012 competition (other than the ceiling for entries is set at a maximum of 72 players) and that entries are now open to all players (not just restricted to National team players).

Entry to the event is £50 which includes free-practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, the official opening and closing ceremonies at the White Rock Hotel on Thursday and Saturday evenings along with a guaranteed minimum of 6 competition rounds across the two tournament days.

The format will mirror that of the 2011 event and carries an estimated prize fund in excess of £1000. The competition will have a team event (all teams will consist of 4 players) running in tandem with the individual event. All players play four individual rounds on Friday and a further two on Saturday. There is then a 7th round for the top 6 teams to decide the team title and then a final 8th round for the top 18 individual players after 6 rounds of strokeplay. Last years event saw Germany take both the individual and team titles and we are keen to see a strong turnout for Great Britain in both the individual and team events in 2012 to take on all comers (players can highlight on their entry form if they would like to also be part of the team competition – GBR teams of four will be selected from this pool of players once initial entries have been received).

Further details of the event along with a brilliant offer on accommodation at the White Rock Hotel can be found in the official WMF invite at http://www.minigolfsport.com/pdf1/1113.pdf

As mentioned earlier, places are limited so if you would like to take part in this event then complete the application form ASAP which can be found at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/attachments/059_WAGM%202012%20APPLICATION%20FORM.doc

If you have any questions regarding the WAGM then please feel free to contact me at chairman@minigolf.org.uk

Kind regards,

Sean.

If you would like to participate in the World Adventure Golf Masters but have yet to confirm your entry can you drop me a line ASAP.

I am in the process of finalising the prize fund and need to get an idea of numbers (payment for entries can be made nearer the event but for now an idea of numbers is the most important aspect).

Many thanks,

Sean.

With the 2012 World Adventure Golf Masters (the WAGM) just under 2 weeks away, please find below some information regarding the event along with a newly announced bonus event running in tandem with the WAGM on Saturday only (a chance for all players to compete). There is still time to enter the WAGM and full information can be found below:

WORLD ADVENTURE GOLF MASTERS INFORMATION

Entry Fee:

Entry to the event is £50 which includes free practice on Wed & Thursday, entry into the official opening ceremony on Thursday evening, 2 days play (minimum of 7 rounds – unlike 2011, there will not be a cut after 6 rounds) and the closing ceremony on Saturday evening (details below).

Practice Rates:

For Monday 14th and Tuesday May 15th, entrants into the WAGM can practice at a rate of £2.75 per day, per player, on the Tournament Course (payable to the course via the hut). The course will remain open to the public those days.

Wednesday May 16th & Thursday May 17th there is zero charge for practice for tournament entrants and the course will be closed to the public from 9am to 5pm throughout those days. You can continue to practice after 5pm but the course will be open to the public from this point onwards.

Opening reception:

We will again be hosting the official welcome and reception at the conference suite at the White Rock Hotel in Hastings at 6.30pm on Thursday 17th May. There will be a welcome glass of wine for everyone and as well as introductions and a speech from the chairman (the wine will help dull the pain of that one!). All players must attend the opening reception as we will be running through all the key rulings, groupings and timetable for the following 2 days. Guests of the players and all BMGA members are very welcome. It will be a great way to meet the other competitors in advance of the competition start on Friday morning and a nice way to get the competition officially underway.

Competition days:

The event runs across Friday and Saturday and for the second year running, will be organised and run over the weekend by Marion Homer. Play will tee-off with group 1 from hole 1 (every round will be a rolling start) at 9am prompt on Friday. All players will play 4 rounds on Friday and 2 further rounds on Saturday (all strokeplay).

A seventh round on Saturday will be contested amongst the National teams for the team champions (the team scores will take the cumulative scores of players in each team from rounds 1 to 6 inclusive). We will make the selections for the GBR team(s) once everyone has confirmed whether or not they wish to play in this part of the event (by Thursday morning – 17th - at the latest).

A final eight round on Saturday will be contested by all players (there is no cut this year) for the overall title of World Adventure Golf Masters Champion!!

The round by round results will appear at http://www.bmga.co.uk/2012WAGM/result.htm once the event tee’s off on Friday morning.

Prizes:

There will be prizes for all category winners (the leading player after 6 rounds for each of the relevant categories – Male, Senior Male, Female, Junior) along with the overall top players after 7 rounds as well as the official trophies for the team and overall competition winners. The Prize money and full details will be confirmed on Thursday evening at the opening reception (the total purse for the event will be over £1000).

Closing ceremony:

The White Rock Hotel will be hosting the presentation and closing ceremony from 6.00pm on Saturday evening after the competition has finished. There will be a buffet and more speeches but overall will be a nice informal end to what promises to be a great tournament. Again guests of the players are very welcome!

Approved balls – no course balls will be allowed in the event or any standard golf balls. We still have a few WMF approved golf balls available to purchase from Monday (£5 each) and these will be the only golf balls allowed in the event. Only WMF approved balls are eligible at any WMF event and the WAGM is no different. Generally the majority of balls purchased that are listed as competition balls from the NIFO website are approved.

This is the second time the event has taken place and the second time that we have hosted a WMF event in the UK. All of the players in attendance will be happy to help with any lines, hints and tips on how to play the course. I am sure we will have a terrific competition and will see some outstanding minigolf across the course of the event and above all, will be hugely enjoyable for all taking part.

If you would like to play in the WAGM but have not yet entered then please contact me on chairman@minigolf.org.uk ASAP.

BRITISH ADVENTURE GOLF OPEN

For 2012 we are holding an additional one day event at the Pirate Course on Saturday 19th May, the British Adventure Golf Open (The BAGO!). Open to all, this event will consist of 3 rounds on the Pirate Course - running simultaneously with day 2 of the WAGM – and gives players a chance to compete for the British Adventure Golf Champion title. In line with domestic BMGA events, there will be dedicated cash Prizes for Category 1, 2 and 3 prize winners, along with the usual aces champion prize and it is a great chance for any player to get involved in the excitement of the World Adventure Golf Masters weekend.

The tournament costs £20 entry fee for adults, £10 for juniors (under 18's) and players already taking part in the WAGM can also enter this event for the reduced price of £10 (the 3 rounds from day 2 of the WAGM will count as those players’ British Adventure Golf Open scores). Tee off areas will mirror those of the WAGM as shown above.

For those not already participating in the WAGM, entry to the BAGO also includes the Saturday evening presentation and closing ceremony at the White Rock Hotel where the presentations will be made for the World Adventure Golf Masters prizes and the British Adventure Golf Open prizes. If you would like to play in the BAGO then please let me know by Friday evening (18th May) at the latest, either via chairman@minigolf.org.uk or send off the application form found at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59:forms&catid=36:tournamentsforms&Itemid=56

If you have any questions regarding either of the events then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Sean.

Special thanks to the tournament director Marion Homer for delivering a top class event once again.

And of course, a big thank you to all of the players from Great Britain and across the globe for giving us another outstanding minigolf competition across the 2 days at Hastings.

Thanks Will.

I will burn a copy of the 2011 DVD for you and bring along to the BC's (no charge). All being well a lower quality version will air on Youtube in the next week or so for those who haven't seen the original at the WAGM 2012 Opening Ceremony.

It will probably be a while until the 2012 version is ready but you will be pleased to know that a new video will be premiering on YouTube shortly (see the BC thread).
