The BMGA tour moves to the indoor Swedish Felt course in Hither Green for the first major of the year, the 2011 British Championships.

As well as the main championship title, the womens, seniors and junior British title will also be contested (provided there are a minimum of 3 entrants in each category).

With a prize fund in excess of £500 this promises to be a terrific event at the end of the month (with prize money for top players, aces champion, Category 2 aces champion, novices and also top players in the Category 2 entries).

Entry costs £25 per player (£15 for under 18's) with all players contesting 7 rounds of strokeplay (4 rounds on Saturday and 3 rounds on Sunday – there is no cut in the British Championships).

The course is offering a £10 practice day rate for BMGA tour members in 2011 and details of the event, including an application form can be found at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?view=details&id=54&option=com_eventlist&Itemid=56.

To help with the planning and the prize fund split can players let me know ASAP via chairman@minigolf.org.uk or via reply to this thread, etc if you are planning to take part in the event - payment can be made in advance or at the course on Friday or Sat before tee-off.

A list of entrants can be found at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_eventlist&view=details&id=54&Itemid=56

Thanks for all the messages of support Andy.

It would have been great to have won a first KMGC major but James was simply too good over the 7 rounds. All we can do is congratulate him and try again next time.

I'm sure we'll all be better players after 7 rounds of intense competition at the course.

Well done everyone, especially:
Our new British Senior Champion Tony. A great reward for months of consistent play.
Marc for coming third and a great play-off win, and I think reclaiming the No 2 ranking. Well done.
Awesome Adam on another fantastic performance. He continues to progress at a frightening rate.
Sean and Marion for all their hard work and organisation in running the tournament.
And even if he didn't have his best tournament, Scott for being Scott and making the tournament a much better and more colourful place with him in it.

See you all soon.

Final results are now fully online - a few tech probs with internet connection at the Green coupled with the fact that the Homers have had a night out at the O2 at Glee (a jolly good evening for those who could do with a good bit of light entertainment now and again).

Results are at http://www.bmga.co.uk/results/2011/bc11/result.htm and copied in below.

Some more fascinating stats:

1. The Force aced hole 7 in each of the last 5 rounds.
2. Freebird aced hole 5 each time and hole 14 on 6 out of 7 rounds.
3. TK Max aced hole 12 on 6 out of 7 rounds.
4. James played hole 9 in -3!

Incredible performance by those 4 players!

One final one:
The top 5 in this event is exactly the same as the top 5 in the London Open last year if you substitute James for Nick. But in the Lo, the best 5 averages were 34.5, 34.5, 34.8, 37.0 and 41.0 compared to this weekend: 32.3, 33.3, 34.0, 34.0 35.7. In that time, holes 3, 16 and 18 have all been made harder. Just shows what an incredible standard of minigolf was produced this weekend.

Nice stats - couple of others worth mentioning:

Hole 14 - I may have aced it 6 out of 7 but in terms of average for the hole I shared the honours with Michael, Marc and Marion who all got 5 out of 7 with no dropped shots - which in my opinion is a better performance than mine.

And hole 18 - not going for the obvious round 3 stat but worth highlighting a non-KMGC'ers 100% hit rate on the hole - 7 out of 7 - stand up David Donnelly! A cracking nerveless finish to every round!
