This is the first World Minigolf Federation event to be hosted in the UK and will see Great Britain competing against players from across the globe. Entries are initially restricted to a maximum number of players for each nation, by invitation through the relevant National Organisation and our Great Britain squad, who will be taking part in the Nations Cup and World Championships in Sweden later in the year, are already gearing up for this competition. At the start of April I will know if there are any places available for general entry for other UK players (the provisional International entry cut-off date is March 31st). Entry will cost £50 per player (which includes practice on Weds & Thurs before the event and the official Opening and Closing ceremonies/party!) for the 2 day event – 4 rounds on Friday & 2 - 3 rounds on Saturday dependant on position.

Any Tour Pro player not currently selected for the 2011 Great Britain WAGM squad (see below) that is interested in taking part in the event needs to contact me ASAP via chairman@minigolf.org.uk (or via private message on this forum or the unofficial BMGA forum).

If there are spaces available at this point I will contact players accordingly (please note: all applications for the event will be made via the BMGA – the event is not open to general entries).

The GBR squad for the WAGM is as follows:

Michael SMITH
Marc CHAPMAN
Sean HOMER
Chris HARDING
Brad SHEPHERD
Freddie BLACKBURN-SHAW
John MCIVER
Tony KELLY
Seth THOMAS
Emily GOTTFRIED
Marion HOMER

Just a quick thank you to all those who came down to the event to support all the players and especially the Great Britain Teams - the support was considerable and vocal, for which we are all very grateful.

It was a very encouraging performance from the squad as a whole, even though we weren't able to defeat the German Team or secure an individual winner on home turf.

Highlights from the British Minigolf Squad include:

-Michael Smith continued his steady form and converted some consistantly low scoring into a well deserved Individual World Bronze medal - Many congratulations!

-Chris Harding won the Senior Mens category to become a 3-time World Champion!

-GB 1's Final Team round score to show the Germans what we are capable of!

-The immense team spirit built up over the 4 days which will hold the GB Team in good stead as we head next to Stockholm (and Ted's impressive team meeting attendance rate....)!

A big well done to everyone involved including a big thank you to Keith Kellard, our tireless domestic team coach!

Possibly the most photos taken at any minigolf event ever!! And then there are Annas' super shots as well!

That was without doubt 4 of the best days of my life.
A huge thanks to Sean, Marion and Anna for all their hard work.
A big thank you to Adam and Scott for coming down and getting involved. And Mr X sent me a very nice message on Friday so that's the whole club!
Thanks to Sean, Marc and Tony for being the best possible teammates, especially to TK Max for playing so well on his International debut despite the handicap of having to spend 4 days and nights with me!
Marc played very well (as always) but there is only one word I can think of to describe him - Wow! I always thought he would be a good leader but he was truly inspiring to play for/with. The next few years are going to be very exciting and progressive with him in charge of the team, especially with the likes of Adam and James coming through to what will be a truly formidable team, once we all get a little more experience.
It's been an incredible 16 month journey for me. I make no apologies for saying I owe so much of my success to you all for the help, advice and friendship you have given me, not to mention making minigolf so much fun. This is only the beginning!

Great report from Michael once again...highlighting the thrills and spills of one of the greatest minigolf tournaments this nation has ever seen!

Well done to the lads, especially Marc, huge thanks again to Anna,- assistant tournament director (!) and of course, to Sean, who has worked so tirelessly from September last year when Gerhard first talked to us about this venture at the British Open, right through to today. Running a tournament of this importance takes so much organisation to make it look seamless, after dinner and team talks, there was still work to be done to give all the players the best possible experience.

Look out all of you next year when Freebird has no other distractions!!!!
