Afternoon all,

I've been watching the Twenty 20 this afternoon and was wondering what we could do to create a similar derivative of standard minigolf that would echo the excitement of the T20. The cricket version is all about big hitting and providing a more explosive format for the public to get interested in.

Any ideas of a format for Minigolf so we can have a KMGC T20 tournament?

Aces are our big trump card so what can we do to push up the rate of these and speed the game up?

A few ideas:

  • move the tee off point 50% closer to the hole (i.e tee off half way along the lane)
  • Get rid of the 6 shot (max 7) strokes - limit to 2 or 3 shots (or you get a 7?)
  • Restrict ball use (level playing field)
  • Look at using crazy crazy type rules - multi balls in play

Just a few (possibly hairbrained) ideas - but no doubt there are more. I would reckon we could have a pretty good crack at doing something different for our next KIT day...

What a mind you have! Smile
An idea may be to use the average scores from previous comps to eliminate holes that aren't Aced much & have an 18 hole comp playing the remaining 9 holes twice. At Strokes I would suggest that holes 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 14, 15 & 17 are dropped. Although the 11th is harder on average, it's an easy ace to get. You could say to tee off on the 11th as normal then if you miss, go back to the tee rather than try & play from the back.
We could play one round like that at a KIT day or at the Megabowl, could be some good scores!
