THE KENT INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT 2010

To be played season long across 5 courses in the UK!!

The KMGC prides itself on its wide ranging membership (started in 2006 and growing all the time) and the competition is open to anyone (although if you are currently affiliated with one of the other UK minigolf clubs then you can only play in a guest capacity via an invite from the club). Whether you are a member of the British Minigolf Associaton (BMGA) and a veteran of competition play, or whether you just fancy meeting up with like minded minigolfers and see how you fare, the Kent Invitiational Tournament (KIT) is just what you are looking for!!!

THE KIT ON THE ROAD 2010

To celebrate our 5th anniversary of the KIT the KMGC are spreading their wings to take in a few more courses in the South East and show course owners and locals what the KMGC is all about! Participating in this event gives you the chance to win the illustrious Kent Invitational Tournament Trophy and the opportunity to pit your minigolfing skills against the rest of Team Kent. To make the competition a bit more widespread and to expand our horizons as a club the KIT is going on tour in 2010 (whilst still maintaining the elements that make the KIT the greatest invitational tournament on the UK calendar).

PHASE 1:

Five courses make up the KIT tour in 2010.

These are White Rock Minigolf (aka Clambers) and the Seafront Crazy Golf courses in Hastings, The Green in Hither Green, Splash Point in Worthing and Sidcup Adventure Golf.

All players start off with an average score per round of 50 on each course. Players then are encouraged to play 2 competitive KIT rounds on these courses (only 2 scores will count but you can of course play more if you meet the criteria - for a round to qualify it should be a three player round rather than 2 as we have had in the past). Any score below 50 is put in as your best round and in turn then lowers your overall KIT average (the sum of all your scores, divided by 10). Given that everyone starts with 50 per round, your average after phase 1 cannot be higher than 50 and also means that you don't have to play at every course to be eligible for phase 2. Phase 1 will run from April to October (inc).

PHASE 2:

A two round strokeplay competition as normal with players carrying forward their phase 1 score (rounded up/down) into the competition to give a final 3 round score. Lowest score takes the KIT crown along with 200 ranking points, runner up 100 RP's, 3rd place 50 RP's, everyone else 1 RP (in line with BMGA IT rules). Date for the final and the venue are tbc although we will be looking at tail end of October.

Details and the updated table for the 2010 KIT can be found here

VTK!!!

Yes, well done FB, great ideas. Not only will this be a great comp but will give us all a chance to prepare for three huge tournaments - Matchplay, BO and WCGC.

Anyone fancy a KIT day down at Splashpoint over the next Bank Holiday weekend?

If so, what day suits people best (Sat, Sun or Mon)?

Ideally we would like to do the British Matchplay Championship draw live from the course all being well so it would be great to link this into a KIT day and also get a good turnout from the KMGC to support the Splashpoint chaps in what looks like a great looking course.

It certainly does look a great course.

Saturday is the only day of the three I can definately make so that would be my preferance. Of course, like today, we'll go with the majority vote. Unless the party with the most votes gets the fewest seats...

Would prefer Sunday. Can't do the Monday cos I'm at work believe it or not (pesky public schools and bank holidays!).

Certainly looks like the best day. If you can make it (along with Mr X) then it looks like we have the following at least:

DT
FB
HIO
MR X
AK
TK
FORCE

If this is OK with everyone I can sort out the details of the BMC's draw and we can kick off the KIT on Sunday 30th.

Nice to see the KMGC out in force at the Green again last night. A bit of an eye opener for Phil & Alex! Smile
Well played FB, belatedly off the mark in the matchplay, also well played Michael, all square after 10 holes then a couple of aces saw off a very tough challenge. I lowered my pb again but still can't play well there unless it's matchplay - weird and slightly frustrating!
Good luck to all travelling to Scotland this weekend, bring it home to Kent! Wink

I went to Sidcup witth the Hurricane for a round on Sunday. We played the red course, it's very much like New Malden as you'd expect but they've spent a helluva lot on it, waterfalls, rivers etc..my son loved it! I didn't take any balls as we were short on time & only going for one round but with that sort of felt (plastic grass) it's very slow when new & will get better. Got three aces & plenty more can be got but there's a few long holes, also the Volcano, which is shorter than NM but just as nasty. It was very busy so I didn't get on the yellow course which appeared to be more popular with the masses, also nice to see a licenced cafe too, a cool beer after a sunny evening's minigolf must be on the cards! Cool
As for the KIT there, I'd guess that the best round on each course would be a good idea?
I got a vacant look from the girl in the hut when I enquired about a BMGA discount too, but she let Matty play for half price!
Worth a trip up there, but expect it to be busy!

Going to drop the manager/owner an email this week - from a BMGA and KMGC point of view - will see what we can get sorted - not sure when I'll make it over - probably next week but sounds good!

Morning all,

The Sunday over the bank holiday weekend seems to be the best option - good for DT, FB, HIOK, Force, AK & TK - and hopefully Mr X, DG aswell as some of our missed members this year (The Forrests, The Bass, Sarge and the B's).

If we can firm this up then I can mail out the rest of the club ASAP.

Cheers,

VTK!

A bit late in the day but I've just realised that I never updated the KIT following last weeks trip over to the Green. Out of the scores that count I know Marc shot a 33, and I got a 39. I also know Andy lowered his PB and Michael shot a couple of mid 30's and I'm also pretty sure Phil got one round below the 50 mark but I can't find the scorecards. So can you fill me in on the scores so I can update the website (the rest of the site has been updated following the Scottish Open and last week's Matchplay ties).
